Do you offer voicemail?

Using the Caregiver App to set up, customize, and manage voicemail remotely

We do not provide voicemail directly to your loved one. If you want your loved one to be able to receive messages on their own phone, you can use a telephone with a built-in answering machine or a standalone answering machine. Approved contacts will ring through to your loved one’s phone and will be able to leave a message on that local answering machine.

Be sure to set up the local answering machine so it picks up before teleCalm’s voicemail. Your loved one’s answering machine should answer around the 30–35 second mark, so contacts leave messages on your loved one’s phone instead of in the Caregiver App.

With the teleCalm Caregiver service, voicemail is provided to you through the Caregiver App. When “Enable Voicemail” is turned ON in Settings, voicemail works as follows:

  • All strangers go directly to voicemail in the Caregiver App. Your loved one’s phone will not ring.

  • All contacts will ring on your loved one’s phone. If the call is not answered within 40 seconds (longer than typical phone service), it will roll over to voicemail in the Caregiver App—unless your landline’s own voicemail is set to answer sooner than teleCalm’s system.

  • Blocked callers are not allowed to leave a voicemail.

  • You can customize the default outgoing voicemail greetings from the Settings screen. There are separate greetings for Contacts and for Strangers.

  • You can listen to voicemail messages from the Dashboard by selecting the voicemail icon at the top right of the screen.

  • Any voicemail message shorter than 5 seconds will be automatically deleted, since many robocallers stay on the line for only 3–4 seconds before disconnecting

  • If you want your loved one to receive messages directly on their own phone, you can instead use a telephone with a built-in answering machine or a separate standalone answering machine.
