Will teleCalm Phone Service (Including 911) Work During a Power or Internet Outage?

Learn how teleCalm’s phone service—including 911—operates during power or internet outages, and discover solutions to maintain service continuity for your loved one.

The teleCalm adapter requires power to deliver phone services, including 911 calling. If there is a power outage and the adapter loses power, you will not be able to make or receive calls—including emergency calls—until power is restored.

To maintain phone service during power interruptions, many customers use an inline backup power supply, such as the TalentCell Rechargeable 12V DC Output Lithium ion Battery Pack (3000mAh), available for under $25 on Amazon. This kind of backup keeps the teleCalm adapter running for several hours, ensuring continued phone service throughout a power outage. Please note, however, that cordless phones require their own power source and may not function during a power outage, even if the adapter is backed up.

If you experience an internet service outage and your teleCalm system is connected to over the internet, the teleCalm adapter will automatically switch to its built-in cellular connection to keep phone service active. Once internet service is restored, the system will automatically return to using your home internet connection.
